Zoe-perry
Perry was born in Chicago to actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first roles on television included two episodes in the role of Jackie Harris (as seen in flashback) in The ABC sitcom Roseanne which was played by her mom. However, her parents did not want her to take on acting roles until she was older and worried about the consequences of stress. Perry stated she felt shy to act at the age of 16, but she began doing shows in the theater at Northwestern University as a way to make friends after transferring to the university from Boston University. Perry was a graduate of Boston University, relocated in New York in search of TV roles. Perry was able to land small roles on shows such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Then, homelessness led her to California to find theater work. The Other Place was performed by her mother and her on Broadway in 2013 The father of her Kevin McKidd performed in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer prize-winning film Anna Christie alongside her in 2015. Perry appeared in nine episodes of the ABC drama The Family in 2016. In 2017, she was a part-time character in the ABC political drama Scandal in which her father was the main character. Also, she was cast on her role on the CBS show The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger than Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mom. She was cast in the role by auditioning for an open role despite being a fan of this persona.
